Eve & Adam by Michael Grant and Katerine Applegate

When someone you loved does something bad, it isn't always that way. They might have done it for you, like saving your life. In "Eve & Adam" by Michael Grant and Katerine Applegate, Evening has difficulties on deciding whether or not to turn her mother, Terra Spiker, in. Terra loved her daughter, but Evening isn't so sure if that's true. Her mother made terrible mistakes before, and when she found out the truth, she knew her mother had broken the law. Many people wouldn't know what to do in a situation where Evening is in, and that's what she is struggling with.

First of all, when Evening was around two, she nearly died. What saved her life was a heart surgery, that made her into a mod. For example, she never gets sick, and when she nearly lost one of her legs, her leg recovered very quickly. Evening's parents knew that it's against the law, but they did it in order to save her life. If you had someone you loved, wouldn't you do anything to protect them? Terra gave her daughter an extraordinary gift, making her life better than other people's lives. Although Terra broke the law to save her daughter, she did do many unnecessary things. For example, experimenting on more subjects, such as a pig with green flesh, a puppy with human ears, a cow that's out of proportion with an large udder, and more. The most important of all, is a simulation where you "play as god", meaning that your creating mods that're humans. The simulation was given to Evening, where her mother wanted her to create a perfect boy. Evening knew nothing about the simulation, she thought it was a game, but it really isn't. When she finished creating her perfect boy, it was alive. What Terra Spiker did was horrible mistakes, but everyone has mistakes, whether it's big or small. People should be forgiven.

I believe that Evening should forgive her mother, but at the same time, her mother does deserve to go to jail. It's a hard chioce, but that's what's right. At the end, Evening decided not tell on her mother, she still cared and loved her, she is her one and only mother. I wish that there was a second book that continues on with the story, since I really want to know what would happen to Terra, and what Evening's reactions would be, although she is quite prepared for it. Evening has a great description of feelings and actions, and makes up what her trait is, and not what others think about her opinions.
